Despite its name, the Albuquerque International Sunport does not have any international destinations.
It does, however, have multiple daily direct flights from Dallas, currently the focal point of Ebola anxiety in the United States after one patient died from the disease at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and two nurses who cared for him there contracted the illness.
Veronica Galaviz was recently named the Chief Financial Officer at Lovelace Regional Hospital. Galaviz has been the interim CFO since May of this year. She has over 12 years of experience in accounting and accounting management and has been with Lovelace Health System since 2010. Originally from California, she moved to New Mexico in 2007.

Wambui Waruingi, M.D., has joined the Lovelace Women’s Hospital as a neonatologist. Waruingi previously worked at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. She has a bachelor’s degree and a medical degree, both from the University of Nairobi College of Health Sciences; completed a fellowship in neonatalperinatal medicine from Case Western Reserve MetroHealth Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; and did a residency in internal medicine/pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University.
The Diabetes and Metabolism Care Clinic at Lovelace Medical Group/Southwest Medical Associates has received accreditation from the American Association of Diabetes Education (AADE).
AADE accredited programs must provide evidence that they meet or exceed the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education. AADE’s Accreditation Program requires the delivery of education content and also encourages behavior change, with the aim of improving the health status of people with diabetes.

Jeffrey Mazer M.D., has joined Lovelace Medical Group Pulmonology at the Lovelace Medical Towers. Mazer is board certified in critical care, pulmonary medicine and internal medicine. He previously worked as the director of pulmonary rehabilitation at the Miriam and Rhode Island Hospitals in Providence, R.I., and also was an assistant professor and attending physician at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Providence for five years.
Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital has been providing pet therapy to patients for the past eight years. Therapy Dogs Inc. comes to the hospital once a week so dogs can visit with patients in order cheer them up and spread happiness.
