Lovelace Westside Hospital will be celebrating the third anniversary of its Family Birthing Center and opening of the Lovelace Medical Group Women’s Services on Tuesday, Feb. 25 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Lovelace Westside Hospital. The hospital is located at 10501 Golf Course Rd. There will be a ribbon cutting event and tours available of both areas.
The Family Birthing Centers at Lovelace Westside Hospital and Lovelace Women’s Hospital have delivered more than 3,200 babies in 2013.

A Florida physicians’ group has expanded its contract to provide doctors to hospitals in Albuquerque owned by Lovelace Health System.
Lovelace Medical Center sponsored a 17-year-old Roswell girl’s wish through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Lovelace Medical Center’s $5,000 donation allowed the girl, named Taylor, to go to New York City to spend a day as a model for Seventeen Magazine. The magazine’s team did a special photo shoot with Taylor, complete with hair, makeup and stylists. Taylor said that it is important that she shares her story of overcoming adversity with as many people as possible, and that is why modeling for Seventeen was important to her.

Angela Sanchez, M.D., has been promoted to Co-Medical Director for the Lovelace Medical Group/Southwest Medical Associates. Sanchez will also continue to serve as the lead physician for the department of family medicine and continue practicing at Southwest Medical Associates’ Northside office. She has a medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School; completed a residency at the Baylor Family Medicine Residency Program; is board-certified in family medicine.
ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – According to a new study, children who are overweight when they start kindergarten, are four times more likely to be obese by their teen years.
Along with the rest of the nation, childhood obesity is a battle being fought in New Mexico. Nearly 15 percent of kids ages 2 to 5 are overweight.
Doctors say the key to tackling the issue of childhood obesity is prevention. Preschool age is not too young to start an exercise routine.
Lovelace Westside Hospital has recently expanded its range of care options with the addition of a wound care clinic and new services for women.
The wound care clinic opened in October with two staffers who are certified by the National Alliance of Wound Care and Ostomy, occupational therapist Ann Marie Santoyo and physical therapist Angela Arbelaez.
