Lovelace Hospitals Visitation Policy

We want to help protect you and your loved ones during the flu season. Due to the increased risk of the flu, we are now enforcing the following guidelines for visitors.

Visits by Children:

  • Children must be at least 18 years of age to visit the hospital campus.
    • An adult must accompany visiting children and the visit should be reasonably brief.
    • The child may not wander freely throughout the hospital, unit or clinic, and must remain in close proximity to the responsible adult. The child may not be left unattended.
    • Children brought to the ED because no other babysitting exists must stay with their parent in the ED. Parent will be asked to make other arrangements to protect both the children and our patients.
    • Children of any age will not be permitted to visit patients in contact precautions, or droplets or airborne isolation without prior consultation with Infection Control Practitioners or the Hospital Epidemiologist.
    • Exceptions may be made by a department manager or supervisor for exceptional cases such as an immediate family visitation for a terminal patient.

Numbers of Visitors:

  • In general, visitors to inpatients should be limited to TWO visitors at one time.
  • Numbers of visitors at one time may be further limited based on the patient’s condition.

Fathers of Neonates:

  • Fathers of neonates who do not meet the age requirement are exempted.
