Do you know what an Isotope is?
Atoms of the same element can have different numbers of neutrons; the different possible versions are called Isotopes. If atoms don't have the right number of neutrons, they can become radioactive. Dr. Lovelace and the "Mercury 7 Astronauts" would have been familiar with Isotopes given Albuquerque 's post-World War II scientific research.
In 1913, a young doctor moved his frontier practice to Albuquerque. Known for his surgical skill and extraordinary compassion, Dr. William Randolph Lovelace modeled his pioneering practice after Minnesota 's respected Mayo Clinic. Today, Lovelace is still a member of the prestigious Six Clinic Group of hospitals that offer total personalized care for each patient. The Lovelace passion for innovation in health care lives on in our commitment to advanced medical technology, patient convenience and the best possible outcomes. It's all delivered 24/7 at our network of acute care hospitals serving patients throughout the greater Albuquerque and Rio Rancho metropolitan area. Our commitment goes beyond our walls with a broad range of community service and outreach programs, including complimentary health screenings and educational events.
