Lovelace Women’s Hospital named one of America’s Best Breast Centers and Best Hospitals for Patient Safety by Women’s Choice Award®

ALBUQUERQUE – March 14, 2018 – Lovelace Women’s Hospital was named one of the Best Breast Centers and Best Hospitals for Patient Safety by Women’s Choice Award® for 2018.

Lovelace Women’s Hospital earned the designation as one of America’s Best Breast Centers for the fourth year in a row. The award signifies that Lovelace Women’s Hospital is in the top 8% of 4,812 U.S. hospitals offering breast care services. It also received the 2018 Women’s Choice Award ® as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety for the third year in a row, putting it in the top 16% of 3,179 U.S. hospitals for patient safety.

The Women’s Choice Award ® focuses on criteria based upon patient satisfaction, clinical excellence and women’s highest preferences when it comes to treatment and a quality hospital experience.

Lovelace Women’s Hospital has met the highest standards of breast care in the nation, as set by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and carry the Breast Imaging Center of Excellence (BICOE) seal from the American College of Radiology.

“We are very proud to have earned designation for the fourth year running as one of America’s Best Breast Centers,” said Sheri Milone, CEO of Lovelace Women’s Hospital. “We are committed to empowering women to make educated, confident decisions about their health, while also providing the highest quality of care. Our health care providers and staff are committed to having the highest standards of breast care in the nation.”

To receive designation as one of the nation’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety, Lovelace Women’s Hospital uses an Inpatient Safe Surgery Checklist to assess effective communication and safe practices during three perioperative periods: prior to administration of anesthesia; prior to skin incision; and prior to the patient leaving the operating room or procedural area.

“As a recipient as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety award, we have implemented safe practices that help to save lives,” said Sharon Prudhomme, chief nursing officer for Lovelace Women’s Hospital. “We strive to deliver the highest level of quality care to our patients.”
