Village chooses Lovelace for employee insurance

Ruidoso village officials said at their meeting earlier this month the transition of employees to the Lovelace Health Plan is going smoothly.

The change was aimed at keeping a lid on premiums while providing the best coverage for the money, Village Manager Debi Lee said. But some new enrollees complained about having to travel outside of the village for blood and other laboratory work. As part of their commitment to the village, Lovelace Health Plan officials worked with Quest Diagnostics to offer a blood draw station at Dr. Frank DiMotta's office, 208 Porr Drive, for all village employees, their family members and anyone with Lovelace Health Plan insurance.

"I think that solved that issue," Lee said.

A session was conducted recently to give village employees a chance to have their questions answered, and a second wave of insurance enrollment also was conducted for supplemental life insurance and accidental short-term disability coverage.

Lovelace Health Plan was selected to insure village employees and their family members. The contract provides about 400 people with Lovelace's coverage and with access to Lovelace Health System's technology and service. Lovelace Health Plan offers access to more than 9,000 health care providers and specialists across New Mexico and in bordering states. Village employees also will have access to Lovelace Health System's 11 retail pharmacy locations in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe, as well as the system's hospital network. That network includes the state-of-the-art care at Lovelace Medical Center, Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital, Lovelace Women's Hospital, Lovelace Westside Hospital, Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center and Lovelace Regional Hospital-Roswell.

Coverage for the village began July 1.
