Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center receives American Heart Association accreditation for acute cardiac care

ALBUQUERQUE — August 7, 2015 -- Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center has received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® Heart Attack Receiving Center Accreditation.

The accreditation program — sponsored by the American Heart Association and the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care —recognizes centers that meet or exceed quality of care measures for people experiencing the most severe type of heart attack, ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), in which blood flow is completely blocked to a portion of the heart.

Barbara J. Bath, M.D., has joined the Lovelace Medical Group as a board-certified family medicine physician practicing at the West Side location at 4420 Irving NW in Albuquerque. Bath has 20 years’ experience providing care in New Mexico. She has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University; a medical degree from New York Medical College; and completed an internship and residency at Brown University/Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.

Legislators endorse Belen hospital site; say city needs economic development

The two most influential and powerful state legislators came together recently to endorse the Belen site for the long-awaited hospital.

Sen. Michael Sanchez (D-Valencia and Bernalillo counties), the senate majority leader, and Rep. Don Tripp (R-Socorro, Valencia and Catron counties), the speaker of the house, spoke last week at the ground-breaking ceremony for the new crosswind runway at the Belen Alexander Municipal Airport, both saying they believe the Belen location would be the best site for the yet-to-be-built hospital.

Debbie Sue named by NIST to Board of Examiners

Debbie L. Sue, director of therapy services at Lovelace Women's Hospital, has been named by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to the Board of Examiners for the 2015 malcom Baldridge National Quality Award.
