ELDIE CRUZ, M.D., has joined the Lovelace Medical Group as a board-certified general surgeon. Cruz previously worked as the chief of surgery at Mason General Hospital in Shelton, Wash. He has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from New Mexico Highlands University; a medical degree from UNM; and completed a residency in general surgery, also at UNM.

Lovelace Westside Hospital has been named one of the top 100 hospitals in the U.S. by Truven Health Analytics.
Truven, which has been rating the top 100 hospitals since 1993, rated hospitals on 10 issues, including mortality, patient safety, average patient stay and readmission rates for heart failure and pneumonia, the firm said in a news release.
Lovelace Westside was named one of the top 20 small community hospitals. It was the only New Mexico hospital on Truven’s list.
Lovelace Westside Hospital at Golf Course and McMahon was listed as on Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2013 list of “100 Great Community Hospitals” which recognizes hospitals based on quality of care and service to the community. Becker’s Hospital Review editorial team selected community hospitals based on rankings and awards from iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), Healthgrades and The Joint Commission.
