New CEO Hired For New Lovelace Medical Center
ALBUQUERQUE , NM , February 22, 2006 – Lovelace Health System has appointed Dennis Knox as the new Chief Executive Officer of the new Lovelace Medical Center – Downtown. With more than 25 years of health care management experience, Knox will be responsible for strategic and operational activities as the operations of both Lovelace Medical Center – Gibson and Albuquerque Regional Medical Center are combined at the downtown location. He will begin in his new position on Monday, February 27.
Most recently, Knox was CEO of Phoenix Baptist Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix , AZ. He was responsible for the leadership and management of the 236-bed comprehensive acute medical/surgical/teaching hospital – the flagship of the six-hospital Abrazo Health System – part of Vanguard Health Systems. Prior to that, Knox was the CEO and System Vice President of Memorial Hermann Continuing Care Corporation in Houston , TX .

Knox holds a bachelor of arts in Management Science and a master of arts in Management Science from Duke University . He has two sons, Jason and Kyle. His fiancée, Jody, is a perioperative nurse with two children of her own, Brett and Jill. As a former scholar-athlete, Knox enjoys working out and playing golf. He has also started hiking in anticipation of touring the trails of New Mexico .
In conjunction with the arrival of Knox, Janelle Raborn will move from Albuquerque Regional Medical Center to become chief operating officer of Lovelace Women's Hospital. In addition,
Raborn will continue in her role as CEO of Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital until a new CEO is chosen. Sandra Podley, currently the chief operating officer of Lovelace Medical Center – Gibson, will take on that same role at the new Lovelace Medical Center – Downtown.
Lovelace Health System comprises four acute care hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, the Lovelace Health Plan, S.E.D. Medical Laboratories, Lovelace Medical Group and 15 neighborhood health care centers in Albuquerque, Rio Rancho and Santa Fe.
