Among the challenges that human resources faces is effectively assisting employees with their many roles, including work, family, civic and spiritual commitments, health, recreation and self-development goals. This can take a toll on employees through stress and ineffectively managing their diet and exercise. We have developed various programs to internally assist employees with a healthy balance. We offer a management development program through our internal training resources supported by a program called ModelNetics (Main Event Management Program). This program assists managers with effectively understanding their role in the organization and the role of their staff to successfully manage the workload. Through the use of 151 models, managers gain insight into appropriately selecting, delegating and motivating their staff. The models are a comprehensive view of the management process as a tool to assisting with balancing roles. We have also begun several internal wellness programs, including the Lovelace Challenge, which is an eight-week program designed to encourage employees to live healthy lifestyles through physical activity, eating right and establishing healthy behaviors. Employees are encouraged to increase time spent in physical activity throughout the program.
