Dr. Abraham Lichtmacher, who once served as Lovelace Women's Hospital’s chief of medical staff, will rejoin Lovelace Health System in mid-May.

Lovelace Health System has hired a new chief of women’s services.

Dr. Abraham Lichtmacher, who has had a clinical practice for more than 30 years and once served as Lovelace Women's Hospital’s chief of medical staff, will rejoin Lovelace in mid-May, the company said in a news release. Lichtmacher will leave his current position at Rochester General Health System in New York, where he served as chief of obstetrics and gynecology.

“In his new role, Dr. Lichtmacher will oversee and integrate all women’s services from primary to specialty care, which will improve quality and drive evidence-based medicine,” said John Cruickshank, chief medical officer for Lovelace Health System. “Patients will benefit from a comprehensive integration of their health care services.”

Lichtmacher said he was happy to be returning to Albuquerque and Lovelace.

“This is a great opportunity to expand on the high quality care that Lovelace provides,” Lichtmacher said.
