Lovelace Opens new Health Care Center

Lovelace Medical Group recently opened a new health care center at 9501 Paseo Del Norte, N.E.

“This model organizes care around the patient, allowing clinical teams to better coordinate and track care,” said Dr. John Cruickshank, CEO, Lovelace Medical Group. “The clinic will provide a central medical home for the patient instead of focusing solely on providing episodic care.”

Lovelace was the only health care system in New Mexico to make the list.

Dr. Sharon Phelan, medical director for labor and delivery at the University of New Mexico Hospital, also a professor of obstetrics and gynecology and a fellow in the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, says the cesarean section rate at the hospital, 21 or 22 percent, is slightly less than the state’s average. The rate of c-section for the first pregnancy or primary c-section is about 11 percent, she says.
