Lovelace Opens Clinic in Los Lunas

A brand new clinic will open for Lovelace Health Plan members in Los Lunas today.  The clinic is a partnership between Lovelace Health Plan and Atrinea Health. A ribbon cutting is planned for this afternoon at the new clinic. The Valencia County Chamber of Commerce and Los Lunas Mayor Robert Vialpando will be at the event.

Los Lunas government employees won't have to travel far to see their family physician now that the village has a new primary care clinic for them and the 10,000 Valencia County residents covered by Lovelace Health Plan.

The new facility, Atrinea Health Clinic, is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and is located at 3428 State Highway 47 Suite C.

A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday, Jan. 28.

Mario Leyba Joins Lovelace Medical Group

Mario J. Leyba, M.D. has joined the Lovelace Medical Group as a general surgeon with offices located at 101 Hospital Loop, Suite 111, behind the Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque. Leyba previously worked as chief of surgery at the Alta Vista Regional Hospital in Las Vegas, N.M. He has a bachelor’s degree,magna cum laude, in biology and chemistry from New Mexico Highlands University; a medical degree from UNM; and completed a surgical residency at the Good Samaritan Hospital Level 1Trauma Center in Phoenix.

Lovelace adds emergency rooms for pediatric patients

Lovelace Westside Hospital will soon have a pediatric area in its emergency department.

As part of the emergency department’s “face lift,” four private exam rooms of the emergency department will be dedicated to children and their families.

“It’s part of the evolution of care … that’s become more specialized,” said Dr. Rebecca Webb, who is the medical director of the pediatric program at Lovelace Westside Hospital.

Lovelace Westside Hospital has received the 2012 Zia Award from New Mexico Quality Awards for demonstrating the highest level of performance excellence and being considered the “Best in Class” and a role model in New Mexico. Governor Commits to Medicaid Expansion

The state of New Mexico will accept what could be as much as $6.2 billion from the federal government between 2014 and 2020 to expand Medicaid coverage to an estimated 170,000 adults, Gov. Susana Martinez announced Wednesday.

“Access to health insurance has the potential to improve the well being of our families so our kids can learn better in school and so mom and dad can be better parents and more productive employees,” she said.
