Lovelace Women’s Hospital is the only Albuquerque hospital to be recognized by the Joint Commission as a Top Performer on key quality
measures for pneumonia and surgical care in 2011.
The hospital met or exceeded 95 percent performance on these quality measures.

Rededicated Lovelace Medical Center

Lovelace Health System on Monday rededicated its flagship hospital, the 10-story, 120,000-square-foot Lovelace Medical Center on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. NE. The system has invested almost $120 million on improving the 263-bed hospital, including a recently completed six-month project to clean and recaulk the building, re-seal its windows and cover it with a new brown stucco-like finish. The hospital was built in 1967 and was acquired by Ardent Health Services in 2003 as part of its deal to purchase the old St. Joseph Healthcare System from Catholic Health Initiatives.

Starting Jan. 1, 2014, an estimated 200,000 or so New Mexicans who have been without health insurance will be required to purchase some, with government help if necessary, or pay a penalty to the Internal Revenue Service.

Lovelace Clinic Offers Free Health Screenings

The Lovelace Regional Hospital-Roswell is encouraging the community to be proactive about their health. In an effort to help the community take charge of their health, the Family and Urgent Care center offers wellness screenings seven days a week, free of charge.

Chief Operating Officer/Chief Nursing Officer Dawn Tschabrun said a number of tests are done to get the full scope of how healthy a person really is. The screening includes body weight and vital signs, pulse, blood pressure, blood oxygen level and lab tests.

Aquatic Therapy at Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital

As part of National Rehabilitation Week, Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital is promoting a unique therapy service that is only available at Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital, it’s called Aquatic Therapy.  With this type of treatment the patient can improve their range of motion, increase strength, and improve their quality of life. Joseph Garcia:  “It is a type of exercise that is both fun and relaxing. The water is heated to 92 degrees it is very comfortable for your body.”  Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital and the therapy pool are located at 505 Elm Street in NE Albuquerque.

Lovelace Women's Hospital Hosts 6th Annual NICU Reunion

KOB-TV came out to cover our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) celebration this weekend.  The event was co-sponsored with the March of Dimes.  Hundreds of NICU families attended the event that included face painting, balloon animals, food, music and carnival games. Lovelace Women’s Hospital has treated more than 4,000 babies since we opened our expanded Level III, 53-bed NICU in 2007.
