In 2007, Lovelace Health System spun off its physicians group into ABQ Health Partners in what was described as a messy divorce.

In November 2012, the split became final when the two firms failed to renew a contract for ABQ Health Partners to care for Lovelace Health Plan patients.

Now, Lovelace is in the process of rebuilding its physician group, Lovelace Medical Group.

Roswell Welcomes New Urologist

Urologist Donald Wenner III, M.D., has returned to his hometown of Roswell. He has joined the Lovelace Health Plan network and is eager to serve members in Southeast New Mexico. Dr. Wenner completed his urology residency at the University of New Mexico, where he graduated with honors from the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society. He attended undergraduate studies at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, earning a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.

It’s National Rehabilitation Week and what better way to take care of yourself than getting some extra help from a furry friend. Lovelace Rehabilitation Hospital hosted a dog parade today in an effort to showcase the importance of pet therapy. The dogs lift the spirits of patients and take their minds off struggles. Patient, “I miss my sister’s dog so it brings me some happiness.” Matthew Martinez was in a car accident last week near Gallup and says he’ll be in the hospital for a while, but pet therapy should make the loneliness a little easier.
