neonatal care

Services

We offer a full continuum of neonatal intensive care from NICU-specialized medical physicians and nurses to family support services.

Our services include:

A High-Tech, Family-Centered Environment
Our newly expanded 53-bed NICU was designed with input from health care providers and families of our NICU “graduates” to provide state-of-the-art technological support in a quiet, home-like environment. Reclining sleeper chairs at each bedside allow parents and supportive family and friends to be an integral part of the health care team. A parent and family lounge is equipped with a microwave and television, and coffee is available around the clock. Our visitation policy is open to encourage and support your involvement in the care of your baby.

“Giraffe beds” create a special environment that promotes infant wellbeing, and split-screen heart monitoring provides multiple views for close monitoring. We also have in-house radiology capability for our neonates.

Special Services
Trained physical therapists work with our smallest patients to facilitate feeding and swallowing success and ensure proper positioning and movement. Lactation consultants are available to help with breastfeeding, and ophthalmology and cardiopulmonary specialists experienced in working with neonates provide testing, monitoring and, if needed, intervention.

Community Resources
We work with Ronald McDonald House and Casa Esperanza to provide temporary housing for our out-of-town parents. A March of Dimes liaison is available in the NICU to assist with family support and integration.

Preparing for Home
To ensure a successful transition from the NICU to home, we provide our families with complete discharge education, including training in infant CPR. Overnight transition rooms are available for parents who need further education before going home. Your case manager and social worker are here to help you with discharge planning.
