Our emergency room is designed and equipped to treat a wide range of medical conditions, injuries, and illnesses. We commonly treat the following:

Emergency heart treatment
The Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center is proud to offer the only emergency department in the state that is 100% dedicated to cardiac care. Here, highly trained ER providers are ready and equipped to treat any cardiac emergency such as cardiac arrest (heart attack). Our emergency team uses advanced technology to provide our patients with a variety of treatments and services, including surgical care, cardiac catheterization labs, and vascular care services.
Pediatric emergency care
Kid Kare ER, Lovelace Westside Hospital’s kid-friendly ER, was specifically designed to make kids and their parents feel safe and comfortable. From injuries to illness, our pediatric ER physicians are here to help your child heal from a major injury, illness, or condition.
Features of our Kid Kare ER include:
- 18 patient beds, including 4 dedicated private rooms for kids and their family
- A team of board-certified emergency pediatric physicians

- Fast-track unit for minor care needs

Senior care ER
At Lovelace, we believe that seniors deserve to be treated with special care and attention. Our Senior Care ER is staffed with specially-trained geriatric emergency nurses committed to helping you feel safe and comfortable. You’ll also find softer mattresses, free valet parking, and quieter accommodations to make your time with us a little easier. Senior emergency care is offered at Lovelace Medical Center and Lovelace Westside.
Our senior care ER offers:
- Call lights that are easier to use
- Free valet parking (available at Lovelace Medical Center only)
- Follow-up calls to check your progress and review after-care instructions
- Signs and clocks that are easier to read
- Softer lighting, soothing colors and minimal noise
- Specially-trained emergency nurses who are GENE-certified (Geriatric Emergency Nursing Education)
- Thicker mattresses for added comfort

Whether it's a broken bone, fracture, sprain, chest pains or something much more serious. Most of our patients are seen by one of our emergency room providers in about 30 minutes or less.
