When ABQ Health Partners announced its merger this week with a California-based physicians’ group, it said it was hoping to accelerate its push into coordinated care, a team approach to health care.
The Albuquerque group’s new partner, HealthCare Partners, with more than 8,300 doctors, has been using the coordinated care model for decades, and it seemed like a good way to help ABQ Health Partners acquire the expertise and technology to employ the model.

As part of the contract, Lovelace worked with Quest Diagnostics to offer a blood draw station at the office of Dr. Frank Dimotta in Ruidoso, Lovelace said in a news release.
Village employees, their family members and any Lovelace Health Plan member will be able to get blood drawn at the office, Lovelace said.

This contract provides about 400 people with Lovelace Health Plan’s affordable, accessible coverage as well as access to Lovelace Health System’s high quality technology and service. The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation recently donated a large banner to the Lovelace Westside Hospital Inpatient Pediatric Unit so the children staying in the Inpatient Pediatric Unit could enjoy it and continue to color the banner in. The banner is 20 feet by 8 feet.
Lovelace Health System and PNM have joined with the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry to launch the state’s first “Economic Gardening” pilot program designed to help existing New Mexico companies grow.
ACI, in an news release, said it is working in conjunction with the Edward Lowe Foundation and the National Center for Economic Gardening. The city of Las Cruces and the Four Corners Economic Development Corp. also will be partners in the pilot program.
