ALBUQUERQUE – January 29, 2016 – Lovelace Health System is pleased to announce that James Washecka, FHFMA, MBA, has been named as division chief financial officer, starting March 1.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — James Washecka has been named division chief financial officer of Lovelace Health System, starting March 1.

For the past five years, he has been chief financial officer of Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Okla. Hillcrest South and Lovelace Health System are affiliates of Ardent Health Services.  Washecka was named Ardent’s CFO of the Year in 2012.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Fifty-four area civic and business leaders became the newest members of Kirtland Air Force Base’s Honorary Commanders Program on Friday during a ceremony that officially kicked off the sprawling base’s yearlong 75th anniversary celebration.

Kirtland pegs its birthday as Jan. 7, 1941 – the day construction began on Albuquerque Army Air Base, which started training bomber crews for World War II. Today, Kirtland has hundreds of tenant organizations, including Sandia National Laboratories, and employs nearly 21,000 people.

Lovelace’s Heart Hospital to open $5 million operating room

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A new hybrid operating room at the Heart Hospital of New Mexico at Lovelace Medical Center means a patient undergoing relatively minor surgery won’t have to be moved to a surgical suite if something more serious occurs.

Lovelace spent nearly $5 million to convert one of its surgical suites to accommodate a combination of imaging equipment and an operating table, enabling surgeons to perform what are called “hybrid” procedures.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Big changes are coming to Medicare in 2016, and New Mexico’s payers and providers are gearing up to fulfill mandates prescribed by Uncle Sam in both far-reaching and small ways.

Some of the changes won’t affect New Mexicans but, in other cases, patients could see their doctors and hospitals working more closely with each other to help bring speedier medical recoveries for patients over age 65.
