Lovelace Health System appoints veteran healthcare executives to senior leadership roles

 

ALBUQUERQUE – November 2, 2023 – Lovelace Health System (LHS) today announced the appointments of Brian Miller, BSIE, MSE, as the chief executive officer (CEO) of Lovelace Medical Center (LMC) and administrator of the Heart Hospital of New Mexico (HHNM) and Michael Kueker, MBA, as CEO of Lovelace Medical Group (LMG).

“We are excited to promote Brian to CEO and to welcome Michael to Lovelace,” said David Schultz, president and CEO of LHS. “I am confident in their proven leadership and respective skillsets to guide our organization to best meet the complex healthcare needs of the communities we serve.”

Miller has more than 16 years of healthcare experience and has served as chief operating officer for LMC and administrator of HHNM since June of 2022. During his tenure with Lovelace, he has been instrumental in implementing operations improvements and standardized practices at LMC. His leadership also helped HHNM achieve national recognition for patient safety and quality as a Leapfrog Top Teaching Hospital and one of U.S. News & World Report’s 2023-2024 Best Hospitals.

Miller earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s from the University of Arkansas.

Kueker brings more than 23 years of executive experience leading medical practice operations to Lovelace. He most recently served as vice president of physician practice operations at Community Health Systems (CHS), and has served in a variety of medical practice leadership roles at CHS since 2006. Earlier in his career, he also served as physician practice administrator for Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell.

Kueker is a graduate of Kansas State University and earned an MBA at William Woods University.
